November Is Here

Well October rolled by with no big events and I decided that November would be the month I would go with out Facebook and twitter. This was because I wanted to focus more on life, family and mostly God. I feel like these two things take my attention and mind anyway from the most important things in my life. So I decided that my blog should get more attention so I can blog about daily life.
I'm so thankful for extra time so I can knit.  I'm trying to work on some lace sock I started last year, but I can't Find the notes I had with them so I'm having a hard time starting them. I may end up frogging them and starting over.
This friday I will be headed to lady's conference here in Tulsa,  and I'm so excited.  I will see one of my girlfriends I have not seen in over 15 years!  It will be so nice to be around Godly woman and just rejoice in the lord.

Helping A Child With Our Yarn & Needles

So yesterday I was on Itunes looking for Podcast to listen to. Seems like a endless task with me trying to find new knitting podcast that I don't get tired of right off the bat. Anywho I started to listen to Manic Purl http://manicpurl.blogspot.com/  and http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/the-manic-purl-podcast/1492434/1-25#15 there is a project called Mother Bear Project 2011 Started over on the Cogknitive Knit Raverly Group http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/cogknitive/933903/ and she also has a podcast which I love. The pattern and details are all at Cogknitive Group on Raverly and Manicpurl Raverly group has jumped in to make some of these sweet bears for children. I know that all of knitters has some acrylic yarn or worsted in our craft room just sitting there. I said in 2011 I was going to do more work for charity and the those in need, well this is a great start. You can pay for the pattern for a bear or there is a free one, but the point is that this is going to a child that has nothing! it could bring a little hope to a dark place in their lives.
Here is a link for making the eyes on the bear or any handmade gift that I found so easy to do. http://esunbeams.com/knittycat/patterns/knittycatsYarnKnotEyesforPeepsTutorial.pdf
So get the needles out and start those bears :) .

Good day all. It's Saturday morning and I thought I would get to writing a blog post about random life stuff going on .
I wanted to write my thoughts on the Barns & Noble Nook since I have had it about a week now. I have managed to read a whole book in less than a week with it and I have to say there is something to be said for my not being able to see how many more physical pages you have left to finish the book . The Nook does give you how many pages you have read and what is remaining, but there seems to be a since of calm with these numbers. When I read a paper back book, I get over whelmed with all the those pages I have lingering to finish. So in a way the nook has helped with that issue for sure.

One night I decided to use my Nook in bed while Don was sleeping and to my surprise none of my book lights worked with the Nook while in my case. So the next day i went back to Barnes & Noble and bought a Nook light in orange. It works wonderful with the Nook and I am very pleased that I decided to get it. It does create a little glare if you are using it in the pitch dark, but in a dimly lite room it works wonderful.
My local B&N store had the Nook class last-night and I had planned on going, but by the time 6pm got here I just decided not to go. I have had the Nook for a week now and I pretty much have learned most of the in's and out's of the device. I have found a couple web sites I wanted to share with you that I thought someone might use.

  1. Mobile Read... http://www.mobileread.com/  This is a great place for all kinds of Nook goodness. They have forums and websites to download books.
  2. Good Reads ... http://www.goodreads.com/ This is a place to document all the books you have read, will read and want to read. You can add friends and see what they to say about books they have read or what they suggest to read you may not know if out.
  3. Books On Board.... http://www.booksonboard.com/index.html?ebooks=ebooks// another online book buying site.
      4. Fiction wise... http://www.fictionwise.com/home.html.. a online book buying site.

This week we did watch the 2 hour special of Deadliest Catch were they lost Caption Phil. Very sad , very sad. He wave loved by so many and I don't thing we ever know how much until we are really gone. He will be missed very much.

I have been playing with the idea of getting another phone. Me and this Blackberry 9700 are having issues. It's the small keyboard. I just don't understand why they made this phone so small. the 9000 bold was perfect . I love that phone and use it alot, but the battery and memory are a true issue. Anyone that ownes this phone knows what I am talking about. I really have not decided yet, but I am really thinking I may have to go with something a little more basic. I got this phone with my 2 year renewal so I will have to pay full price for a new  phone :( sucks.
On the knitting front I have nothing to offer. I have not touched my needles in a couple months now and I think it has been  a nice little break, but I am ready to get back at it. I miss very much the needle and yarn in my hands. I still have my Rose Leaf Trellis Shawl I am working on and a pair of toe up socks. This will keep me busy for some time :) I'm a very slow knitter, lol.

I guess I am learning with time, that I don't have to keep the worlds pass anymore. Just enjoy what I can do with the time I have. That's all I expect of myself.

Love comments from you guys so drop by and say hi ;) have a great day all.

Blab And More Blab

well I kinda was sitting here this morning  thinking about all the stuff I have not blogged about and the things to come, so here we go.
First off about 3 weeks ago my washer totally went out . Don tried to fix it and there was just no hope and I found him in the laundry room kicking and cussing the washer, lol. He was some kind of mad at the old beast and he charged out into the living room and stated we were going washer hunting. And that we did. we went to about 3 different places and ended up getting this washer for a steel. In fact when we went out this weekend back to Lowes were we bought it, it had gone up like 120.00!!!! so I guess we bought it at the right time for sure.

So last week I was in my craft room cleaning up and I really looked around and thought I missed having a work desk. I had a really nice one that was a L shape that I used for years but I gave it to my 10 year old  step daughter for her room along with my old desk top computer. Thinking about it made me text the Man and told him I would like it if he could make me a desk or if we could go buy one. Well the great man that he is said ok and I thought no more about it till he came home and said he found a really nice desk on Craigs list. Of coarse I was thinking the worst since most of the furniture I have seen there is not worth my time. But I thought I would go along  with it. We called the person and they said that someone was coming to their house to look at the desk and if they didn't take it we were more than welcome to come and decide if we wanted it. So we waited and the guy called back and said for us to come on over and look at it. Well when we got there I could not believe how pretty and perfect this desk was. It has never been used and the thick plastic is still on the seat of the chair to keep the fabric protected!! we got it for 75.00. The lady said it has just sat in a spare room unused since they bought it. As soon as we handed over the cash for the desk the other person called to say they were on the way to look at the desk..heeeeeee,, to bad suckers I got it first :) its so perfect for my craft room . The desk has no marks, scuffs , nothing on it. The house it was in was super nice, like a 400,000 house so you would think they would have charged more for the desk. My lucky day I guess, feel very lucky I got it.
This is my new laptop stand me and the Man picked of this week at Big Lots. We got two of them so we can sit in the living room and work. As you can see on the side there is my knitting :) Love this little contraption and thank who ever thought of it. Every nice to have.
We also this week re-stained the coffee table to a pretty almost black to match the furniture and bought new center piece mirror for the living room and a new massive clock to put over the tv. Trying to redo the living room to make it more modern. Next we will buy new recliners and get rid of the old ones.

So on to knitting.. I found someone to take spinning classes from and can't wait to learn. Plus I am going to try my hand at dying yarn for myself :) I have really wanted to do these two things for a very long time but for some reason I thought I had to have someone with me to do so. But I'm going just go out and do it for myself. I guess I will go to knitpicks.com and order yarn and dye and see how that goes. I watched a video were you can use kool-aid but I want more color than that is going to give me right now. May be something I try later on. I will post more next week when I have took my spinning class and dyed some yarn.. Happy knitting all.

How To Make A Light Box

New Knitting Bag

It has been a while since I bought a new knitting bag, the last being my Pink Jordana Paige knitting sachel. I really needed something that was not as big and that I could take into work or public that didn't knock people over when I walked down the isle, lol.. and something that just is not as heavy with my knitting and other crap in it. So I was up at 4am this morning and was looking on Raverly and could not find a Namaste bag http://www.namasteinc.com/products/handbags/handbags.php for sale that I liked, so I hit google for Namaste sales. And like always the internet never fails me, I came to a blog that said Woolgirl had a 20% off sale on Namaste bags. The hardest part of all this once I got to WoolGirls website
http://woolgirl.com/index.html was deciding between the Newport bag which is 44.25 or the Zuma at 55.20. The Newport had the color I wanted of Saddle and the Zuma Saddle is sold out.. Then I saw the Zuma had the new black and that was it. I thought this would be a bag I could carry with everything I wear and it would look just like a purse and is not to big to look like a granny bag or a knitting bag. So I just ordered me a Namaste Zuma in black :) I can't wait to get it and show pics to everyone .. I really wanted the Saddle color but maybe down the road I can order another one . If any of you out there have the Zuma Namaste bag let me hear from you. I want to know how well you like it or don't like it. I will post pics of the new bag when it gets here this coming week. I was hoping it would be here by Wenesday for knit night but I think that would be pushing it some.

My Journey

here we are the middle of the week and I am starting to feel normal after being sick for almost a week with a sinus infection, no fun at all.
No knitting going on at the moment but I will be going to buy some wool to make the Bella gloves and the hat for the little one and a pair for my self of coarse :) she has read all the Twilight books so I thought it would be great to make the set for her for the new movie.
As I post last week I have started on a weight loss journey and it is going really well and I have to say its a lot easier than I thought. The good thing about WW is that its not a diet, its about really being aware of what you are putting in your body and how much you are eating. I have found a couple weight loss buddies via the wonderful world of the internet that are doing WW too and we are going to fight the fat together. I could not be more excited than to share this journey with all my friends.
The only thing that I am wondering is if I should start a new blog for the weight loss. I know alot of people come here to see knitting or hello kitty stuff or my blackberry themes,so I don't want to take away from that. Let me know what you think about it..
Off I go to get outside and meet the world since I feel much better. Have a great day all..

Girasole Shawl

Long time since I have set down to write on my blog and just enjoy it. Seems that life always gets in the way of all the fun stuff like my blog, knitting, friends and anything else that doesn't involve work. Enough of my bitching and on to what is going on in my life :)

Well a very good friend of the past 20 plus years that happen to know me since I was 16 asked if I would make her a blanket. Now I was like, do you know how long this is going to take me and she was like,... I don't care just make it! lol.. really, she is the most deserving person for this handmade gift and I don't mind one bit making it for her. So I was really thinking hard what to make when I came across the KAL on Raverly for the Girasole Shawl. Its perfect because it looks like something I can do and plus it can be made in lace weight or worsted for a blanket. So I decided to do the blanket for my friend. Then I was on to the task of yarn. I really thought about this and decided since this was going to be my BFF blanket to call her and let her make my mind up for me and the first thing she said was no WOOL. She wanted machine washable and something that was not going to cost me a arm and a leg, so she decided on some Acrylic yarn in bright pink. No, I had nothing to do with picking the color, lol.. but what a perfect color for her to pick if I don't say so my self.
Now I just have to start this thing. I have started a about 10 times and the chart is driving me nuts. Everyone has talked about how easy this chart is and I can't read it. So I am really going to have to sit down on a quit day and work this out with myself. I really want to get this started so i can finish and give this to BFF. Then I want to make my self one in lace weight. I really wish someone would do a YouTube of how to read this chart :) hint, hint...

We are moving July 1st to a new house about 2 blocks away from where we live now. I so can't wait to get moved and have the perfect house. It is really going to be nice to have a nice sized back yard to put a pool in and a extra room for my yarn and exercise equipment. maybe I will start working out again.

Would love to hear from anyone making the Girasole shawl or the blanket. please leave a comment.

Prayer Shawl

I started this Prayer Shawl last Saterday at work for a co-worker that is having brain surgery in a couple weeks and this is the only thing I could think of that I could do to let her know that I really hope she recovers well and that cancer is not part of the mass they remove. I am hoping that this will bring her comfort when she is not feeling well in the days to come. I will let you know how she likes it..
I used 3 skeins of Lionbrand Homespun on size 13 needles..
