Jaywalker update

Thought I would post a pic of the almost finished Jaywalker sock in Sundance by Tempted Yarns. It is taking me so long to finish this because I was working on the Magic scarf shown in this post. I have decided to give this scarf to a woman I hardly know at work that had a breast removed over the holidays. We talk almost every day no more than 5 minutes but for some wierd reason when I completed this scarf something told me to give it to her. I hope she will take it and find solice in it when she is not feeling well.
I have purchase 2 more skiens of the Simply soft from Carons to make my daughter a scarf in bright pink and bright green..lol.. she has no idea that I am making it for her, and she may not even want to wear it after seeing the colors.lol...

Knitting Update

As you can see I have posted better pics of my Magic Scarf and some new yarn I have aquired over the last couple of days. I have no idea what I am going to make out of the Bernat Alpaca but I am thinking hat or fingerless gloves, that is if I can find a pattern for this monter yarn. The lang Yarn I bought last month and just have not taken a pic since my camera battery issue. Which I think I have fixed for now. In these photos you can see that the color of the Magic Scarf is Light pink and jean blue. I love this scarf so much because it really was fun and the yarn is light and soft concidering it is Acrlyic. My plans for the night are watching the new America Idiol which I am really excited about. We need another Oklahoma person to win like Carrie Underwood..:)

This and That

Here I am wondering what to blog about as random thoughts pulse threw my brain and bamm! my phone rings and it is one of my girlfriends from work. She received a email from one of our old co-workers that we have not talked to in over a year! it is fantastic to hear from people you had enteractions with ever day in the work place. In fact, I myself recieved a email today also from a ex-cowork I worked with about 8 years ago!. what are the odds that both me and my girl-friend would hear from people we have not talked to in so , so long??? makes ya wonder.
Speaking of work, as you know my job is sitting on my butt all day doing almost nothing ,just the occational temporary badge to give access into the building or walker around the building once and a while.. So most of the time I am knitting when people walk by coming in or out of the main door into the building. This has caused some what of a fasination with my knitting.. I get questions all day in regards to what I am making, whom I am making it for, and how they love my crochet!!!! now, why in the world do people assume that knitting is crochet? this really bugs me,but this is jumping off the track here. In my last post I had talked about not knitting for profit, but knitting because I want to.Well it seems that the woman whom I knittied the poncho for has friends that saw this little girls poncho and went crazy over it, and demanded that she ask me to make 3 adult size poncho at any cost!!!!..lol.. I was so excited to hear that someone was asking for me to make something for them and that they loved what they saw I could hardly stand it. Of coarse I took a long , deep breath and told her I would have to think about it in depth since I don't have a clue as to how much would be far to charge. I was besides myself with pride and joy that I had done something that made someone stop and take notice.. what a wonderful feeling. In really looking at it, I am positive that it is way beyound me to make these poncho at this time and I will have to turn down the offer. My skill and time don't match really. If I knew for sure I could get my gauge correct for a adult size i might think about doing it, but I just don't know. I will think on it somemore.
I have started a Magic scarf out of some Simple Soft I had laying around the house.I know.. Its Acrylic and cheap but it seems to hit the spot with a simple little scarf that I don't feel like spending a fortune on. I really have to think about cheaper ways to get My Knit On!. if you are not careful you can spend a whole pay check in your local yarn store. I really don't like that way it is turning out,so I may end up getting some Patrons SWS instead.
News flash, I got my HAIR CUT.. I didn't go as short as i wanted to but I got about 4 or 5 inches taken off and I had it layered to give me some body. It had just gotten to long to do anything with and killed my neck when I put it up.the little one got her hair cut yesterday too!! boy was that a fight in a half . but it came out so good that the lady that cut it took all kinds of picures of her to put up in her shop :) now that made Cheyanne a very happy little girl. Just knowing her picure was going to be in the shop was enough to make her forget about her hair being cut off..lol... well, till next time.. keep on keeping on .

The Manly Art of Knitting

When I Watched this video I knew I had to share it with my friends. There is a amazing look at a man knitting with pool sticks made into knitting needles! It also shows us that men are amazing knitters. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

Happy 2008

Can you believe it is 2008 already? Wow, it went by so fast but at the same time I am so happy that we are starting a new year. Last year was a really hard time for me and my family but I do have alot of faith that 2008 will bring great things. In all the holiday rush and working my butt off I have really taken in what I want for the new year for my life and the life of my family. First is to save enought money to purchase a new home . This is a dream that will not go away! I want and need to have my own home . Second, I need to focus on my health and fitness. Working a sitting job as a security officer leaves no room for movement, so I have decided to check into a gym.It is way over due and I don't want to have health problems from sitting on my butt :) . These 2 key points are my focus for the new year and I won't say they are new year resolutions because they are not, they are just most do's for a better life and future.

On the knitting front I finished the Poncho for a co-workers grand daughter a week after Christmas..lol.. She told the little one that Santa forgot the present and he was on a weeks vacation..lol.... I will never do another project for money again as long as I live. doing this little project I came to know that I am a knitter of enjoyment for my own gratifications, not a knitter for profit.. Knitting this thing on a time line just took all the fun out of it for me and stressed me out and worrying if she would like it.. screw that mess man, i will just knit for pleasure from now on. I am almost finished with my first Jaywalker sock in the Tempted yarn, I hope to have this finished by tomorrow so that i can start on the next one.
Surfing the internet when I get home has to be one of my favorite things to do these days, besides knitting , surfing brings me to Raverly which leads to ideas of new projects. So, I am stilling wanting to do fingerless gloves and now i want to do Clapotis. Why you ask?? I really don't know, just saw a ton of them on Raverly and love the way they look. I am thinking maybe working it in something cheap like Caron simply soft or knit picks, I still have not decided on that one yet but know that I want to give it a shot. I still want to make a couple of lace projects and scarfs and what ever else I see on the internet or magizine cover, but knowing I have the rest of my life to try them is a joy in its self. I hope everyone has a great Year :)
